Poetry : Sence You Went Away (Analysis)

The poem refers to something, something that the poet wants to share with the world. This particular something is about the imbalance condition of white people and color people at that time. The reason why I believe that this poem is best seen by expressive theory is that because this poem is used by the poet to express his feelings toward what was happening. Because of the unique appearance of this poem, this piece of poem is very expressive in a way that you may just happen to read it once but you will perhaps remember it for quite sometimes. The using of grammar errors we may found in the poem is actually consciously made by the poet, not because the poet is such incompetent in writing but it is because the poet is trying to send the strong message that hopefully will be sent to the readers. The using of written dialect which affected the sound and the spelling and the grammar and the diction sends the strong message about the literacy condition of African-American people, the writing represents the social class and the injustice that happened. How such a big country like America back in the day can has unbalance education because of the racial issues making the blacks suffer from many forms of discrimination. James as African-American, was dedicated his life for racial issues, ever since he was in university even after he graduated, he had produced such big amount of writing; poems, novels, and song lyrics concerning issues of the injustice experienced by color people in America. He spoke his voice back in the day by writing. The first impression we might have acquire from reading this poem is that we will sure for one thing that the speaker is an African-American or Negro. The second is that the speaker lacks in literacy that making him cannot write the word correctly. The third of all is that we may take one conclusion which is the US did not give the same portion of education because they considering the racial issues as the barrier of whites and blacks.
