      What is drama and how it differ from other literary works

Drama as one of the literary works is the truth we may never against no matter what. What makes drama unique is that it focusing on the conversation between each character in a story. Other literary works such as novel or poetry are seemed to be really different from the drama by any means and aspect at all. In contrary, novel narrate the story by indirect speech which is through the sequences of words that somehow enable us to imagine and get to know what exactly the author of the novel is trying to say to the readers.  In drama, the author wants to make sure that we get the point from the conversation that taking the majority of the drama. When we want to enjoy the drama, we need to see the actors on the stage because the essential of drama is it is need to be performed.

         Brief history of English Drama

English authors were introduced and inspired to write drama by the European such as Greek and Roman and Italy. Greek let people know about the theme of drama called tragedy which about living through suffering bad times and eventually take something to learn from. We usually transform to be a totally different person after having such experience that matter most to us and touch our hearts during what we have been experienced. Other than tragedy, there is also comedy that is not really heavy in find the meaning of what the drama is really about because its aim is centered on entertain the readers and most them or perhaps every drama of the comedy has an absolute happy ending. In middle ages, there were coming the new major theme of the drama such as Mystery and Miracle and Tragedy which all of them are based on the Bible that thought the people about the content of the bible and about how to behave according to the bible in order to be the good human in the world to get into the heaven in afterlife. The drama conducted on the streets and in every different place from one time to other time to assure that the drama can be seen to maximum number of people. Everything was controlled entirely by the church at the time.  England that used to be the colony of the Roman Empire has no option rather than accept the religion the roman brought and even after the colonialism has ended, the roman catholic religion is remain the religion of the people of the United Kingdom. But then the time passes and UK is finally free and the government started to decrease the activity of the drama by any method and it slowly disappear and people never heard of it anymore. Liturgy drama is being replaced by the comedy and tragedy and amazingly get a lot of attention of the people from every classes and the just come to watch the drama willingly and people tend to think of it as a better drama than previews ones because it can be easily accepted because it is about the daily activity so everyone can feel and enjoy and relate and understand it better and at the same time get entertain. At the Renaissance, everything is significantly improved to the better that everything that had ever happened before. The stage to act the drama is built in everywhere. There are so much new comers in literary world that starting to emerge one by one and suddenly becoming the big art society that productively creating such a more different drama in terms giving large variety of option and also as the proof of the developed the way of thinking and the way interpreting any actions. There was no more prohibition to express any kinds of art works, the queen was giving fully support to the artist to making things they like. Nowadays the drama has been far away developed, the theme can be freely combined so that we may find more than two or three theme in one drama because it is becoming really complex.

He was successfully combine the two major drama theme comedy and tragedy into a single drama and the world find it to be extraordinary and he was recognized as one of the kind, as a genius. His writing was so great that he even made his characters in his every drama seemed to be alive in terms of having some sort of real human feelings where every readers can relate to. The truth about he lived in Renaissance ages also the major reason why he became so famous, because every kind of art is progressively developing included drama and lots of his works had been performed and becoming one of the reason he easily acknowledged by people at the time. There are so many authors around the world that inspired by him and that is why the English drama development is really growing since then up to now and everyone should thank for Shakespeare for that.

Some people frequently mistaken the term or even use it on the opposite, for example some people mean to say the drama but say it as play or in any other way. Play is the written drama, the script of the drama where everything written on it is going to be performed on the drama and Drama is the play that already been perform on stage. The art of those two is also different, you cannot say that you don’t need to watch the drama because you already read the play or you don’t need to read the play because you already watch the drama, they have their own value to be enjoyed. Play is defined by several elements such as the theme and plot and characters. The theme will be the big picture of the play so people can receive the purpose of the theme before actually go to see the drama. The theme will tell you what is going to happen in the drama. The plot will tell us about the parts of the drama from the beginning to the end. And the characters will make the most impressions that will stick to our mind after watching the drama because they are the one who act it.
