25th of december

It is the time of the year again, the day when our friends who don’t share the same belief as the majority of us, celebrating one of the biggest day every once in a year. The anxious has started to emerge since tha day before whether to sending the greetings or maybe not, until one of my friend in one of the chat group suddenly popping up early in the morning around 9 am to finally said it. A few of other friends followed then about 12 in the afternoon I  do the same.

You can go ahead and label me by whatever you want as much as you please. The thing is that, there are always two sides of opinions regarding everything, while in this very occasion, I and my few other friends happen to be in non popular ones. At least, the thing is not popular here in Indonesia, where everbody is getting more and more sensitive over everything that happens lately. I personally believe, that religion has so much more than just forbid us to say something for some people.

Those who strongly suggested say no to do such thing argue that the words can be impactful considering the opinion that says when you pronounce it you recognize it. The matter of fact is that we can still be different but also live in peace and in order to reach the same goal of peace, we need to respect each other’s difference. There are so many things to do in this world than just spreading around the hate. Let say you are an Indonesian and then you speak English, does that make you less Indonesian after speaking the language? You are still very much an Indonesian. The annual debates that happen every year just really need to stop now.
